Kabaddi

Kabaddi was originated in India 4,000 years ago. It includes tackling , defences , agility , strength and aggression. Kabaddi is a international sport that other countries play.

In Sanskrit the word kabaddi is translated holding hands. Kabaddi is a contact sport it is also similar to rugby , capture the flag and wrestling.

Kabaddi has altered over time. Originally the raider had to say “kabaddi kabaddi kabaddi” until they ran out of breath and you could tag more than one person. But now the raider has 30 seconds to tag the opponent and run back.

Kabaddi came from the northern parts of India subcontinent and became popular throughout south Asia. And started to spread to Japan and Iran. There are seven members in each team.

The game is played in twenty minutes halves and five minute halftime break during which team is exchanging sides.
